Backward Classes Make Over 60% Of Bihar Population; Nitish Kumar Govt Releases Caste Census Data

The Nitish Kumar govt has released the caste-census data on Monday, which reveals that the extremely backward class is 36.01% in Bihar.

Patna: The Nitish Kumar-led state government has finally released the caste-census data on Monday, which reveals that the extremely backward class is 36.01% in Bihar, given that the total population amounts more than 13 crore.

Announcing the data, Vivek Kumar Singh, Additional Chief Secretary, Bihar, informed that the Backward class in Bihar is 27.13%, whereas the people from General category is 15.52%.

The data aims to provide valuable insights into the social and economic status of different caste groups in Bihar and help the government to formulate more effective policies and programs to address inequality and discrimination.

The data shows that the backward class and the extremely backward class together make up over 63% of the population of Bihar, while the population of general category is 15.52%.
