Details of the Shooting
The 62-year-old politician was attacked by three men near Kher Nagar, just outside his son’s office, around 9:30 PM. Siddique was quickly rushed to Lilavati Hospital but was declared dead upon arrival. According to reports, two of the attackers, one from Uttar Pradesh and the other from Haryana have been arrested. The third suspect is still on the run, and Mumbai police are actively searching for him.

Mumbai Chief Minister’s Statement
Chief Minister Eknath Shinde confirmed to HT that the police had arrested two suspects, with one hailing from Uttar Pradesh and the other from Haryana. “The third assailant is absconding, but police are trying to catch him,” Shinde said.
Who Was Baba Siddique?
Baba Siddique was a three-time Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Mumbai’s Bandra West constituency. He first won the seat in 1999 and was re-elected in 2004 and 2009. Siddique, a well-known figure in Mumbai politics, also served as a minister of state, handling portfolios like food and civil supplies, labor, and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
His political career began with the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI), the Congress party’s student wing. Over the years, Siddique climbed the political ranks and became a Municipal Corporator. He was also known for his close friendships with Bollywood celebrities like Shah Rukh Khan and Sanjay Dutt.
