Uttar Pradesh: At least five people were killed on Thursday (October 9, 2025) after a powerful blast brought down a house in Ayodhya’s Pagla Bhari village. The explosion left several people injured, creating panic in the area. According to officials, many people are still feared trapped under the debris. A few hours later, another blast occurred while an earth mover was clearing the debris of the same house.
Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath took cognisance of the explosion that rocked the house. He expressed grief over the loss of lives and directed officials to immediately rush to the spot and expedite relief work. The injured have been transferred to a nearby district hospital for medical treatment.
On the explosion, Nikhil Tikaram Funde, District Magistrate (DM) told the media, “We received information of a roof collapse following an explosion. A search operation is underway. Five people have died; postmortems are being conducted. The cause of the incident is being investigated. Prima facie, it appears to have been caused by a cylinder or cooker explosion, but after the forensic report, we can be 100% certain of the cause. We have not yet found any evidence of firecrackers here… We are investigating all aspects.”

According to Ayodhya SP Gaurav Grover, the house primarily belongs to Pappu Gupta, a resident of Pagla Bhari village, who lives there with his family. “The heavy debris present here has been removed initially. A search operation is underway in the surrounding area and will continue until the investigation is complete,” he said.
