The Government of India runs various schemes to support its citizens, helping millions of people across the country. These schemes are designed to meet the different needs of the population. However, many individuals still struggle to secure enough food for themselves.
To assist these individuals, the government provides subsidized and free rations under the National Food Security Act. Beneficiaries can access this support by showing their ration cards. However, many people will soon find their ration supply cut off unless they complete an important task.
E-KYC Requirement
All ration cardholders in India have been informed by the Food Department that they must complete an e-KYC (Electronic Know Your Customer) process for their ration cards. Despite multiple reminders and extended deadlines, many have yet to complete this process. If they do not finish their e-KYC, they risk losing access to their rations.
Deadline Extended
According to the Food and Public Distribution Department, the initial deadline for completing e-KYC was December 31, 2024. However, this has now been extended to March 31, 2025. Those who fail to complete their e-KYC by this date will no longer receive rations linked to their ration cards.
To reactivate their ration benefits after the deadline, individuals must visit their nearest food supply department office to complete the necessary paperwork and finalize the e-KYC process.
The e-KYC initiative aims to ensure that only eligible beneficiaries receive government support, eliminating issues related to incorrect or duplicate ration cards. It is crucial for all ration cardholders to act promptly to avoid losing access to essential food supplies.
