Seven-time MLA and senior leader of the BJP, Anil Vij has retained his Ambala Cantt constituency by a margin of 7000+ votes.
Jammu and Kashmir and Haryana are set to see their assembly election results today on October 8. While the fate of more than a thousand candidates is to be decided for the 90 constituencies in both states, there are a handful number of star candidates who have made the assembly election results more exciting. From Omar Abdullah, and Sarjan Barkati in Ganderbal to Khursheed Ahmad Sheikh and Junaid Jawaid Mir in Langate and Iltija Mufti in Srigufwara-Bijbehara, key contestants have finger-crossed as their fate have been put to the test and the results are to be out today.
While Omar Abdullah is a veteran politician, Iltija Mufti and Vinesh Phogat are set to make their electoral debut. But considering what happened in the Lok Sabha election results this year, anything and everything seems possible, and the assembly election results for these star candidates can be anything but certain. What could be more thrilling than seeing the top candidates in a close fight?
With candidates like Junaid Jawaid Mir who supported the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir to Sarjan Barkati who influenced youngsters to be militants and Vinesh Phogat who grabbed eye-balls not just for her Olympic games but also for the wrestler’s protest, there are candidates who made headlines throughout the year. Will they do it again? Will they bloom in the democratic battle or gloom in this political ring?
