As early trends trickle in, the Election Commission of India shows that the BJP is leading in Chhattisgarh followed by the Congress which hopes to retain power. The BJP which is seeking a comeback in the state is currently trailing. The counting of postal ballots was completed at 8.30 am and the counting via EVMs is currently underway. Of the five states which went to polls this time, this is the state where the incumbent Congress is best placed to retain power. Even the exit polls have predicted Chief Minister Baghel’s return to a second straight term in power but with fewer seats.
Taking the matter to X As BJP leads in Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan, party leader and former CM of Chhattisgarh, Raman Singh says, "There is a clear support for the BJP in trends. The anger of people has been reflected in voting. BJP will form the government in all three states with an absolute majority..."

The halfway mark for the 90-member assembly of Chhattisgarh is 46. The counting of votes at designated centres began at 8 am.
The polling in the state was held in two phases.
The first phase was held in 20 constituencies on November 7 with 223 candidates in the contest while the polling in the remaining constituencies with 958 candidates were held in the second phase on November 17.
In Chhattisgarh, exit polls gave Congress a clear edge, showing that the ruling party in the state is poised to return to power with the BJP also expected to put up a good contest unlike in the 2018 polls
