Prime Minister Narendra Modi presents gifts to his counterpart whenever he interacts with world leaders as a guest or when he hosts them. Russian President Vladimir Putin visited New Delhi for the 23rd India-Russia Summit on December 4-5.
The Prime Minister hosted a private dinner for Vladimir Putin at his official residence on Thursday. He presented him with various gifts which gave a glimpse of India’s rich culture of mythology, arts, home-grown products, and handicrafts.

Fine Assam Black Tea
The Prime Minister gifted Assam Black Tea to the Russian President. Assam black tea is grown in the fertile Brahmaputra plains. It is known for its robust malty flavour, bright liquor, and traditional processing using the assamica variety. Assam Black Tea was recognised with a GI tag in 2007. It represents a rich heritage shaped by land, climate, and craft. The tea is valued for its potential health benefits, making each cup both comforting and wholesome.

Ornate Silver Tea Set
Prime Minister Modi gifted him an ornate Murshidabad silver tea set, crafted with intricate engravings that reflect the rich artistry of West Bengal and the deep cultural importance of tea in both India and Russia. In Indian and Russian societies, tea is a symbol of warmth, connection, and shared stories.
Silver Horse
The Prime Minister chose a handcrafted silver horse from Maharashtra as a gift for the Russian President. The silver horse, adorned with intricate detailing, showcases the finesse of India’s metal craft traditions.
The product signifies dignity and valour, which are celebrated in both Indian and Russian cultures. It also reflects shared heritage and mutual respect.
Marble Chess Set
The Russian President was also presented with a handcrafted marble chess set from Agra, which blends fine craftsmanship with functional elegance, highlighting the region’s stone inlay heritage under the ODOP initiative. Featuring inlaid motifs, contrasting stone chessmen, and a chequered marble board framed by floral designs, it offers a glimpse of North Indian artistry.
Kashmiri Saffron
Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave Kashmiri saffron to President Putin. Kashmiri saffron, locally known as Kong or Zaffran, is cultivated in the highlands of Kashmir. It is famous for its rich colour, aroma, and flavour, and holds deep cultural and culinary significance.
Srimad Bhagavad Gita (in Russian)
Prime Minister Narendra Modi gifted the Srimad Bhagavad Gita in the Russian language to the President. The Srimad Bhagavad Gita, part of the Mahabharata, presents Krishna’s guidance to Arjuna on duty, the eternal soul, and spiritual liberation.
