Guwahati: An IndiGo flight from Jorhat in Assam to Kolkata was canceled on Thursday morning. The decision was taken after the plane skidded during take-off after its wheels got stuck in the mud on the side of the runway.

According to an Airport Authority of India (AAI) official, IndiGo flight 6E757 operating on the Jorhat-Kolkata route was canceled after being grounded for several hours at Jorhat due to a “technical problem”.

A local journalist uploaded a photo on Twitter that shows an aircraft skidding off the runway and the wheels stuck in a nearby field.

Tagging IndiGo, he posted on Twitter, “The IndiGo flight 6E757 flying from Guwahati to Kolkata skidded off the runway and got stuck in a muddy ground at Jorhat airport in Assam. The plane was scheduled to depart at 2.20 pm, but after the incident The flight was delayed.”

Responding to his post, IndiGo said, “We are concerned about this incident. Efforts are being made to resolve it by talking to the people concerned. Please, share the PNR via DM to help us do so. Hope you have traveled well and comfortably to your destination.”

An AAI official said that there was some technical fault in the IndiGo aircraft and the flight was canceled at around 8:15 pm.

He said, “There were 98 passengers on the plane. All the passengers got off and are safe.”

When contacted, an IndiGo spokesperson said, “We are currently investigating the incident.”
