He said he will accept the position of chief minister again only if the people accredit his honesty in the Delhi Assembly Elections to be held shortly. “We are going to court of people to prove our innocence,” he said.
Rise to Fame
Kejriwal’s political life began in 2011 as one of the prominent activists participating in India Against Corruption movements, led by activist Anna Hazare. This movement called for the passing of the Jan Lokpal Bill, which inspired Kejriwal to establish the Aam Aadmi Party in 2012. During the Delhi elections in 2013, AAP won 28 out of the 70 seats, and Kejriwal assumed the position of Chief Minister following his resignation after only 49 days; this was when he claimed problems he had when trying to pass the Jan Lokpal Bill.
Delhi Politics Success
AAP won a complete victory in Delhi in 2015 elections by grabbing 67 out of a total of 70 seats. He again became Chief Minister and was elected again in 2020 from the New Delhi constituency. Arvind Kejriwal had lost to Prime Minister Narendra Modi from Varanasi in 2014 Lok Sabha Elections.
