“Freebies make people lazy”: Here’s what Kejriwal has to say

New Delhi: Dismissing a common proposition that freebies make people lazy, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal on Friday took a dig at politicians who get things for free including electricity, bungalows etc and said that then they must be ‘staunch lazy’. “All these politicians get 4,000 units free electricity, free bungalows & free […]

New Delhi: Dismissing a common proposition that freebies make people lazy, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal on Friday took a dig at politicians who get things for free including electricity, bungalows etc and said that then they must be ‘staunch lazy’.

“All these politicians get 4,000 units free electricity, free bungalows & free treatment; so they must be the most laziest persons,” he said, adding that everybody is aspirational, everybody wants success and nobody sits behind thinking that the free electricity will sort everything.

Emphasizing on education and its role in nation building, Kejriwal said: There are 37 countries in the world, where students, no matter rich or poor, gets free education.

“They (countries) were rich, that’s why they were able to afford it, is not the case…They became rich by giving free education,” he said, adding that, “I want to make India a rich nation. I just don’t want to erade poverty but to make them (poor) rich.”

When asked if AAP tries to cover the alleged scams by presenting Delhi’s educational model in front of everyone, the Delhi CM said that if Manish Sisodia did a scam of Rs 10,000 crore, there must be somewhere he would have invested that amount, in property, cash but CBI didn’t find anything during raids.

“They make fake cases,” Kejriwal said, when asked about the rising number of alleged scams claimed by the opposition parties.

“Give me ED, CBI for 24 hours and more than half of BJP leaders will be inside jail,” he said.

Sisodia’s name not included in CBI chargesheet

Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia’s name was not included in the chargesheet filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in connection with the Delhi liquor policy case on Friday.

This is the first chargesheet filed by the CBI in connection with the case.

Besides Vijay Nair and Abhishek Boinpally, the others named in the chargesheet are liquor baron Sameer Mahendru, Boinpally’s aides Arun Pillai, Mootha Gautam and two public servants who were earlier working in the excise department.

The CBI charge sheet has been filed before Special CBI Judge MK Nagpal at Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court.
