New Delhi: CM Arvind Kejriwal faces another setback and this time from the Delhi High Court that has put a stay on his bail in the money laundering case linked to excise policy. Kejriwal was granted bail from the Rouse Avenue Court on Thursday which was challenged by the ED in the High Court on Friday morning.

After a vacation bench of Justice Nyay Bindu allowed bail to the Delhi CM while declining ED’s plea to put at least a 48-hour stay on the order, the agency reached the Delhi High Court and brought this matter before the bench comprising Justice Sudhir Kumar Jain and Justice Ravinder Dudeja on Friday.

The additional solicitor general, representing the ED, SV Raju, argued on Friday that he wasn’t given enough time and fair opportunity to present the case and to oppose the bail. Expressing his disappointment, he said that the hearing was dealt with in a manner that was unfair to him as he was also deprived as he wasn’t allowed the option of a rejoinder.

Arvind Kejriwal was granted a 22-day bail citing his requirement in the party campaigns for the Lok Sabha elections. He surrendered again on June 2 ahead of the election results. His arrest was done by ED in March after hours of interrogation, which was followed by a high-voltage drama by the AAP supporters.
