Arvind Kejriwal: Delhi CM Urges Supreme Court To Extend Interim Bail By 7 Days

Arvind Kejriwal, the Chief Minister of Delhi, has taken a significant step by filing a petition in the Supreme Court, requesting an extension of the interim bail period. In the petition, he demands a prolongation of his bail by 7 days. Kejriwal argues that since his arrest on March 21st, during which he remained in jail until May 10th, he has experienced a weight loss of 7 kg and an increase in his ketone levels, indicating potentially serious health issues. Therefore, he seeks permission for medical examinations, including a PET-CT scan and other tests at Max Hospital. He emphasizes that extending his bail period will facilitate proper diagnosis and treatment of his health concerns while being outside of jail, ensuring satisfaction for his family regarding his well-being.

Earlier Arvind Kejriwal Got Bail Till June 1

It’s noteworthy that Kejriwal obtained interim bail until June 1st to campaign for the Lok Sabha elections. The Supreme Court granted him interim bail on May 10th with an order to surrender on June 2nd. However, prior to June 2nd, he has petitioned for an extension of the interim bail period.

He was arrested from his residence on March 21st after receiving 9 summons. Following his remand from March 22nd to March 31st, he was transferred to Tihar Jail on April 1st. Throughout this period, he contested his arrest in the Supreme Court, with a decision on the matter reserved on May 17th. Additionally, Sanjay Singh has been granted bail.

Arvind Kejriwal is currently engaged in campaigning for the Lok Sabha elections. Upon his release on May 10th, he promptly resumed his activities, relentlessly criticizing the BJP and Prime Minister Modi during election rallies and roadshows nationwide.
