On Sunday, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal filed an appeal with the Supreme Court challenging the Delhi High Court’s decision to halt his bail order in the liquor policy case.
The high court temporarily halted the trial court’s decision to grant bail to Kejriwal and postponed further proceedings in the case until June 25.
In his petition, Kejriwal has requested the Supreme Court to hear the plea on Monday.
The way the High Court stayed the bail order contradicts established legal principles set by this Hon’ble Court and undermines the fundamental basis on which bail jurisprudence in our country is founded,’ the plea asserted.
The plea asserts that denying due process of law to the Aam Aadmi Party chief or fabricating false cases against him solely because he is a political figure opposed to the current central government is unjust.

‘The plea argues that the Aam Aadmi Party chief should not be deprived of due legal process, nor should false allegations be concocted against him simply because he is a political figure opposed to the current central government.’
‘The petitioner is deeply troubled by the contested order, which has undermined justice and should not be allowed to persist any longer. This Hon’ble Court has consistently emphasized that ‘even a day of deprivation of liberty is intolerable’, the plea emphasized.
‘The High Court has overlooked the essential criteria necessary for assessing an application to revoke bail, thus the order suspending the bail grant cannot be justified, even for a day,’ stated the plea.
