Arunachal Pradesh is set for continuity under Chief Minister Pema Khandu’s leadership, who is poised to embark on his third consecutive term following the BJP’s resounding victory with 46 seats in the recent Assembly elections.
This development was swiftly followed by a meeting between prominent BJP leaders, including Union Minister Kiren Rijiju and party central observer Ravi Shankar Prasad, with the Governor of Arunachal Pradesh, Lieutenant General KT Parnaik (retd.), on Wednesday. Their purpose was to formally stake their claim to form the government after Khandu was re-elected as the BJP’s Legislature Party leader in the northeastern state.
Expressing gratitude for the support received, Khandu tweeted, ‘The trust bestowed upon me by our BJP MLAs is deeply appreciated. I extend heartfelt thanks to our MPs, party leaders, and dedicated workers for their tireless efforts that led to a decisive victory in the polls. Let’s now unite to accelerate progress in Arunachal Pradesh and achieve our vision of an inclusive Viksit Bharat by 2047.’

Scheduled for 11 am on June 13, Khandu’s oath-taking ceremony has garnered attention, with reports indicating the presence of Union Ministers Amit Shah and JP Nadda, alongside Chief Ministers from other northeastern states. The event marks a significant milestone as Arunachal Pradesh prepares to witness continuity in governance under Khandu’s leadership.
Earlier, on Wednesday evening, a gathering convened with BJP central observers Ravi Shankar Prasad and Tarun Chugh overseeing the unanimous election of Kandu as the leader of the legislative party. This meeting underscored the BJP’s consolidation of power in Arunachal Pradesh, securing a commanding 46 seats out of 60 in the state assembly, concurrently with the Lok Sabha elections.
As preparations intensify for the swearing-in ceremony of Chief Minister-designate Pema Khandu and his council of ministers, Arunachal Pradesh anticipates a seamless transition into its new administrative term under the BJP’s continued governance.
