Arnold Dix, an acclaimed international tunnelling expert, has become a crucial figure in the intensive operation to rescue 41 workers trapped inside Uttarkashi’s Silkyara tunnel since November 12. Heading the International Tunnelling and Underground Space Association in Geneva, Dix is renowned for his expertise in navigating the legal, environmental, political, and ethical landscapes of underground construction.
Recently, Dix expressed optimism as reports suggested that the rescue efforts were approaching a successful conclusion, with rat-hole mining experts making significant progress in clearing the last few meters of rubble.
Addressing reporters earlier today, the Australian expert conveyed humility in the face of the mountain’s challenges. “The mountain has taught us to remain humble,” Dix remarked, sharing his sentiments about the ongoing rescue operation.

Arnold Dix, serving as the President of the International Tunnelling and Underground Space Association in Geneva, boasts a diverse skill set encompassing geology, engineering, law, and other multifaceted roles.
