Army Medical Corps Raising Day 2025: Army Medical Corps (AMC) is celebrating its 261th Raising Day on 3rd April, 2025. The corps established in the year 1764, has been rendering selfless service to the nation over centuries. The AMC has dedicated its service both in combat and in peace, living up to the Corps motto of ‘Sarve Santu Niramaya’ meaning ‘let all be free from disease.” The list of AMC’s services is long and boasts many feathers in its cap. AMC has excelled in providing both peace time and combat health care to the defence forces, medical services to UN peace keeping forces in foreign missions and during disaster management to civil authorities.

A Tribute To The Heroes!

The AMC Raising Day celebrates and honours the contributions of thousands of Officers, JCOs and other ranks of the Army Medical Corps. These are the personnel who have been successful in impacting the lives of the Armed Forces personnel, families and veterans. On its Raising Day, AMC commemorates its establishment in 1764 and recognises its contributions to the nation.

Notably, the AMC has also been at the forefront of the fight against COVID and has rendered selfless and outstanding service to the Nation.

AMC Raising Day 2025: History Of AMC

Originally known as the Indian Medical Service, AMC was founded in 1764 during the British colonial era. It came be to be known as Army Medical Corps (AMC) on April 3, 1943, after the merger of Indian Medical Service, Indian Medical Department, and Indian Hospital Corps into a unified corps.

Motto:

The AMC runs by the motto of “Sarve Santu Niramaya,” which translates to “Let all be free from disease”. 

Contributions:

The AMC provided outstanding healthcare services to the armed forces during both peacetime and combat. It has also rendered medical services to UN peacekeeping forces and during disaster management. The AMC not only offers medical care but also engages in research and development to enhance healthcare delivery.

Raising Day Celebrations

The Raising Day honours the achievements and contributions of the AMC. Special events are organised in the Army cantonments across the country and its headquarters in Lucknow. Raising Day celebrations are also held in the national capital and is attended by Army Chief and other senior officers.
