New Delhi: Lieutenant Governor of Jammu Kashmir, Manoj Sinha has said that many areas of the UT has swept militancy completely. Its eco-system has also been damaged to the core. Further efforts are on to root-out militancy from the entire region.

LG further said that if the challenges of narco-terrorism are not handled in time, it will emerge as cancer. LG Manoj Sinha was addressing the passing out-cum attestation parade of 538 new recruits at Police Training Centre (PTC) Manigam, Ganderbal.

He said that using human and technical intelligence, the police along with security forces are doing a great job. They have been able to clear off many areas in Jammu and Kashmir from the menace of militancy and its ecosystem.

J&K Police is facing multiple challenges on many fronts

“But more needs to be done to root out the terrorism completely from J&K. Narco-terrorism is fast emerging as a biggest challenge and if it is not dealt in time, it can take the shape of a cancer. For eradicating militancy, you need to destroy all its off-shoots and tools supporting it,” the LG said.

“In other states, challenges for police are less compared to J&K. Here, police have to maintain law and order, deal with social crimes, criminals, militancy and subversive elements,” the LG said

and hailed the police force for facing all challenges bravely and in a professional manner.

DGP of Kashmir Dilbagh Singh

At the same event DGP of Kashmir Dilbagh Singh said, “Narco-terrorism was the biggest challenge for police forces as the neighboring country wants to destroy the new generation on one hand and pump the money earned out of narco-sale to fuel militancy.”
