April 2025 Bank Holidays: A City-By-City Guide To Know When Banks Will Be Closed

April begins with a holiday for most banks because rules from the Reserve Bank of India , which requires banks to close on April 1st for ‘closing of accounts’. The RBI holiday calendar, released at the start of each year, shows when banks will be closed in each city. This depends on local traditions and important national events. Here’s a list of cities with bank holidays and the reasons behind them, according to the RBI calendar.

Also, banks in India are closed on the second and fourth Saturdays, as well as on Sundays. However, you can still use net banking services like transferring money through NEFT or IMPS, setting up standing instructions, and opening Fixed Deposits (FD) or Recurring Deposits (RD). To use these services, you just need to have a valid bank account with net banking activated.”
