Diwali celebration turned into grief after one person was killed and six were injured in firecrackers explosion in Eluru district of Andhra Pradesh. The incident occurred on Thursday, when a man on two-wheeler carried shipment of ‘onion bombs,” which accidentally fell off and exploded after the bike hit a pothole on road near Ganganamma temple. The explosion killed the bike rider. These bombs had the same explosive power as of an IED, suggests the report.
CCTV footage of the incident showed two men on a white scooter driving through a narrow street around 12.17 pm. The bike explodes as it approaches a point where the street widens and meets a main road. At the time of the incident, there was a small group of men comprising five to six people at spot. The CCTV footage of the tragic incident has surfaced online.
The explosion turned entire area dark with fumes of grey smoke and bits of paper scattered around. Two men who survived the bomb blast can be seen coming out after the smoke clears. Parts of the bike completely destroyed and body were found lying in the distance.

The two men then approached locals for help. The deceased biker rider was identified as Sudhakar. Police have registered a case and launched investigation. The injured have been rushed to hospital where they are undergoing treatment, two are reported to be in critical condition.
A similar case of death involving firecrackers was reported from West Godavari district, where two women were burnt alive and five others were critically injured in a fire that took place at a fireworks manufacturing unit.
