New Delhi: Congress Rajya Sabha MP Rajeev Shukla on Monday met former Union Minister Anand Sharma. After the meeting, Rajeev Shukla claimed that Anand Sharma was not dissatisfied with the party. Let us tell you that a day earlier, former Union Minister and G-23 block leader Anand Sharma had on Sunday resigned as the chairman of the party’s steering committee.

After the meeting, Rajiv Shukla said that Anand Sharma is a ‘devoted member of the Congress Working Committee and a senior leader’. He is a member of Committee on Political Affairs and Member of State Election Committee. It is our duty to meet them. We have good relations with him and he is dedicated to the party. Responding to a question on why Anand Sharma resigned, the former BCCI vice-president said that it is an internal matter and he (Anand Sharma) is not dissatisfied. He himself had said that he would campaign for the party.

Anand Sharma has resigned from Congress Steering Committee
Former Union Minister Anand Sharma has resigned from the post of President of Himachal Pradesh Congress Steering Committee a day earlier. Anand Sharma wrote on Twitter, “I have resigned from the chairmanship of the Congress Steering Committee for Himachal elections with a heavy heart. Reiterating that I am a lifelong Congressman and stand by my beliefs.”

Sharma further said, “I am committed to the ideology of Congress which runs in my blood, no doubt about it. However, given the constant humiliation as a self-respecting person, I had no choice.”

According to sources, Sharma has said in a letter to Sonia Gandhi that I was neglected in the consultation process. However, he has told Sonia Gandhi that he will continue to campaign for party candidates in the state. He has reportedly said in his letter to the Congress President that his self-respect has been hurt as he has not been consulted or invited for any meeting of the party.
