Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday announced that Ministry of Home Affairs is planning to take next step in its proactive approach to combat terrorism. For this, the central government will soon come up with a National Counter Terrorism Policy and Strategy, said Amit Shah. Addressing the inaugural session of the ‘Anti-Terror Conference-2024’ in New Delhi, Shah warned against ‘borderless and invisible’ terror threats and emphasised the need for cutting-edge technology to deal with them effectively.
“The terrorist attacks and their conspiracy are against us in a borderless and invisible manner. If we have to deal with it accurately, then our young officers will have to be equipped with the highest technology, they will have to be trained. We will make it an important part of the training in the coming days,” stressed Amit Shah.
Amit Shah On Anti-Terror Efforts
Furthermore, Union Home Minister talked about the upcoming strategy to fight against terrorism. “We are taking the next step in the proactive approach that the Home Ministry has made to fight terrorism, terrorists and the terrorism ecosystem. We will come up with a National Counter Terrorism Policy and Strategy,” said Shah.
He said that law and order is a subject of state and states have geographical boundaries and constitutional limitations, but terrorism doesn’t. Therefore, Shah stressed that all security agencies (of states and centre) should work in close coordination.
He asserted that the new policy will allow the central and state agencies to work together to combat terrorism. “But as I said, police is a state subject and the fight will have to be done by the state police only. All the (central) agencies will support you, from giving information to taking action,” added Shah.
Zero-Tolerance Policy Towards Terrorism
He also talked about zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism and said that it is now accepted globally and the country has built a strong ecosystem to deal with it. Shah said, “Within 10 years, the Government of India followed a solid strategy against terrorism…Slogan of zero tolerance against terrorism has been accepted not only by India but the entire world today. A strong ecosystem to fight against terrorism has been created within India.”
