The Home Minister Amit Shah also evaluated the arrangements for the annual Amarnath pilgrimage, which is scheduled to commence on June 29.
According to PTI, Shah is expected to be briefed on the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir, the deployment of forces along the International Border and Line of Control, attempts at infiltration, the status of ongoing anti-terror operations, and the strength of terrorist groups in the Union Territory.
Shah chaired the high-level meeting at North Block, three days following a similar meeting led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. During that meeting, Modi instructed officials to utilize the “full spectrum of counter-terror capabilities” in response to a series of terror incidents, including an attack on a bus carrying pilgrims.
In the past week, terrorists carried out attacks in four locations across Reasi, Kathua, and Doda districts of Jammu and Kashmir, resulting in the deaths of nine pilgrims and one CRPF jawan. Additionally, seven security personnel and several others were injured.
In Kathua district, two suspected Pakistani terrorists were killed during an encounter with security forces, and a substantial amount of arms and ammunition were recovered from them.
These incidents occurred just before the annual pilgrimage to the Amarnath cave shrine in the southern Kashmir Himalayas.
