Amidst the visit of Home Minister Amit Shah, the Counter-Intelligence Kashmir (CIK) of the Jammu and Kashmir Police has initiated a series of coordinated raids across multiple locations in the Kashmir Valley. The operation, which is currently underway, spans the districts of Budgam, Awantipora, Pulwama, Kupwara, Shopian, and Srinagar. This action is part of an ongoing investigation into a terror crime case being handled by the CIK.
Authorities have identified several individuals suspected of utilizing a specific encrypted messaging application linked to terrorist activities and communications. These applications are reportedly favored by terrorists and their handlers operating from across the border. Sources suggest that these suspects may be maintaining contact with suspicious entities abroad, raising concerns about potential threats to security in the Kashmir Valley. The CIK’s proactive measures aim to disrupt these networks and prevent any further spread of terrorist activities.
In addition to these efforts, the Jammu and Kashmir Police’s State Investigation Agency (SIA) conducted raids at 18 locations on May 23 across four districts in the Jammu region. These operations are part of a broader strategy to target the terror ecosystem and dismantle sleeper cells. During the raids, a significant amount of objectionable material was recovered, underscoring the seriousness of the threat posed by these networks. The SIA conducted these raids in a planned manner, collaborating with local police and magistrates.
Home Minister Amit Shah is in Jammu and Kashmir for a two-day visit during which he held a security review meeting for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra and was also briefed about the ongoing anti-terrorist operations in Jammu and Kashmir.
