New Delhi: In a second round of talks, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde Thursday will interact with a delegation of the protesting farmers and tribals demanding immeidate relief due to the crashing onion prices in the state amid various issues.
Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis will be present during the interaction, where the demands of thousands of farmers distressed by a number of issues, will be heard.
On Wednesday evening, ministers Dada Bhuse and Atul Save met the protestors and heard their plights which forced them to carry out the procession from Nashik’s Dindori town and head towards the state capital.

A long march was launched under the leadership of All India Kisan Sabha and the Communist Party of India (Marxist). The demonstration entered Thane district on March 15.
The declining prices of purchasing onion in the state have casued heavy loss to the farmers. Unable to sell their production on fair prices, the farmers then relied on the state government for the relief.
After which, Eknath Shinde-led Maharashtra government formed a committee to look into the matter and submit a report to the CM. In its recommendations, the committee proposed a compensation of Rs 200 to Rs 300 per quintal to onion cultivators.

However, the cultivators have demanded the immediate relief of Rs 600 per quintal as the proposed deal would not be beneficial.
