Chennai: In big assistance to sportspersons in violence-hit Manipur, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister ML Stalin invited them to practice in his state for future tournaments.
In a press release, CM Said that situations in Manipur were not favourable for players to practice for upcoming tournaments like Asian Games, Khelo India.
“In order to help players in such circumstances, I have asked Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin to take steps for Manipur players for practice,” CM said.
Sports Minister Udhayanidhi confirmed that state Sports Development would arrange a state of art practice facilities for players of Manipur.
Manipur has given a number of world-class players including Mary Kom, Mirabai Chanu, Kunjarani Devi, football player Haokip, Judo Player Kalpana Devi, and many others.
The northeastern state is experiencing an ethnic crisis for the last 80 days over land issues. The tension in the state started escalating again after a video of two women belonging to the Kuki community being paraded stripped, assaulted and gang-raped by a mob in the violence-hit state went viral on social Media. As per the information, the incident took place at B Phainam Village on May 4.
The Bharatiya Janata Party-led Union and state governments are facing massive backless from opposition parties and people across the country for being fail to handle the situation in Manipur.
