The move aims to promote recycling while easing supply chain pressures, boosting urban mining, second-life batteries, and other related innovations. The Prime Minister advocated advancing joint research on critical minerals and proposed building a partnership to make satellite data more accessible. This comes amid mounting concerns that China is leveraging its chokehold over rare and critical minerals to further its strategic goals.
“If there is investment in circularity, then dependence on primary mining will be less. This will also reduce the pressure on the supply chain, and it will also be good for nature. This initiative can support joint research, technology standards, and pilot recycling facilities in the Global South,” PM Modi said, while stressing resilience cannot be built in silos and pitched for greater collaboration.
PM Modi Proposes G20 Open Satellite Data Partnership
In his address at the 2nd session of the G20 Summit, PM Modi also called for establishing a G20 Open Satellite Data Partnership. Through this program, satellite data of G-20 Space agencies would be made available to developing countries for agriculture, fisheries, disaster management, among other activities.

Prime Minister also addressed a session on “A Resilient World- G20 Contribution to Disaster Risk Reduction; Climate Change; Just Energy Transition; Food Systems”. In his address, he appreciated that the Disaster Risk Reduction Working Group initiated by India is being taken forward.
“India proposes the setting up of a G20 Global Healthcare Response Team. We are stronger when we work together in the face of health emergencies and natural disasters. Our effort should be to create teams of trained medical experts from fellow G20 nations who are ready for rapid deployment in case of any emergencies,” he said in a post on X.
PM Modi Invites World Leaders To Attend AI Impact Summit 2026
Meanwhile, PM Modi invited the world leaders to attend the AI Impact Summit in February 2026. “India looks forward to welcoming the world to the AI Impact Summit in February 2026. We have picked the theme of Sarvajana Hitaya, Sarvajana Sukhaya or welfare for all, happiness for all,” he wrote on X.
