Preparations for Jallikattu

In keeping with the centuries-old custom, locals also painted their homes fresh as part of the preparations and displayed their respect and excitement for the festival. Not only the locals, but also the bull owners along with their bulls are in full swing for the festival preparation.

Bull owner Rajkumar stated, “We’ve had Jallikattu bulls for seven generations,” in an interview with ANI. Our bull, who has won multiple competitions, will compete in every Jallikattu event held throughout the districts. For the upcoming occasion, we have been training it to walk and swim.

Website for registration for the event

The animal husbandry department has launched a separate website for Jallikattu, Manjuvirattu, Eruthukattu, and Vadamadu registrations in an attempt to simplify the process. In addition, the department has developed a standard operating procedure (SOP) for Manjuvirattu, which is anticipated to reduce the high death toll from the bull-taming incident.

In order to participate in the traditional games, bull owners and tamers can now register on the website, https://www.jallikattu.tn.gov.in/. For assistance with the online registration, they can also get in touch with the closest e-seva center. According to department officials, this would not only expedite registrations but also make subsequent field-level inspections easier.

Jallikattu goes International

This year, Sri Lanka will hold the Jallikattu event for the first time at Triconamalee on Saturday, January 6, marking the worldwide debut of Tamil Nadu’s historic bull-taming sport. Senthil Thonadaman, the governor of Sri Lanka’s Eastern Province, is in charge of all event preparations. He was born and raised in the Sivagangai district of Tamil Nadu.
