A 35-year-old woman jumped off a second-floor terrace in Uttar Pradesh’s Aligarh after her husband dared her in anger. The woman, allegedly facing dowry torture from her husband for years, menacingly followed his order.
According to TOI, the woman, Archana, fortunately survived the fall but sustained several fractures. The incident took place on August 1, but it came to light on September 2 when a video clip surfaced, which was shot by her neighbour.
Police registered a case against her husband and other members of her in-laws’ family in connection with the incident. A senior police officer said that a case has been registered under the Dowry Prohibition Act. Police teams have been formed to trace the accused, who is absconding.
Delhi: 45-year-old killed after being hit by speeding car
In a separate incident, a 45-year-old was killed in Rajendra Nagar in the national capital after being hit by a speeding car, which was driven by a man who was allegedly drunk, on Sunday morning, police said.
The deceased has been identified as Gunjan Luthra. According to the police, the incident took place near Shiv Shakti Mandir on Shankar Road.
The accused, identified as Tushar (24), has been arrested. According to the police, the victim fell on the road and died due to severe head injuries after the car of the accused hit the victim’s vehicle.
A case has been registered against the accused under the relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Samhita.
