Akshay Kumar got Indian Citizenship: Bollywood Superstar Akshay Kumar has got back his Indian citizenship. The information about this has been shared by the actor himself on social media. While sharing the news on Twitter Khiladi Kumar has shared a picture of official government documents. 

Earlier, Akshay Kumar had Canadian citizenship, due to which he has been facing trolling on social media.

Applied in the year 2019

In 2019, Akshay Kumar in an interview with Hindustan Times said that he would soon apply for an Indian passport. Pertaining to a question of being trolled for having a Canadian passport, he said “Having a Canadian passport doesn’t mean I’m less than an Indian. I am completely Indian. In 2019 I applied for an Indian passport, But then covid pandemic happened. However, now very soon the process will be completed and my passport will arrive.”

 Now, on Independence Day in 2024, he shared that he had got Indian Citizenship.

“Dil aur citizenship, dono Hindustani. Happy Independence Day! Jai Hind!,” twitted Akshay Kumar. 

In the interview, he revealed that he got Canadian citizenship after one of his friends insisted to apply for it when his movies were not performing well and he thought that his acting career would be over anytime. 

But, Destiny had some other plan for him as he started giving successful movies and became a known face in Indian Cinema.
