Ajmer: In a shocking incident, a Thar (vehicle) lost control and hit a class 9 student who was returning from school. As an impact, the girl was thrown about 4 feet into the air and then fell 10 meters away. The incident has been reported from Ramner Road in Kishangarh of Ajmer district in Rajasthan on Monday. The driver stopped for a while at the spot and then fled with the vehicle. Local residents rushed to help the girl and admitted her to the hospital. A CCTV footage of the incident emerged on Tuesday.
Locals Enraged By The Incident
The victim has been identified as Monika. She suffered injuries to her hand and head. Gandhinagar Police Station Officer Sanjay Sharma stated that police have not received any formal report. However, search for Thar driver is underway based on the CCTV footage. Locals have expressed their anger on the incident and demanded the authorities to install speed breakers in the area.
Father Says, Driver Fled The Scene
Monika’s father Ramlal Jat spoke about the incident. He said that Monika usually gets off the bus at around 3:25 pm. Their home is just 300 meters away from the point where bus stops. They rushed to the spot upon hearing about the accident. He informed that the Thar driver had already fled the scene by the time they reached.
He further added that they took the girl to Marble City Hospital. The doctor informed that she had injuries to her head and spinal cord. Monika has been referred to Ajmer for further treatment after an MRI on Tuesday.
Seeing the incident, Dr. S. Jakhad, the director of the school, has appealed to parents to start picking up and dropping off their children using the school bus, as reported by News24 reporter, K J Srivatsan.
