An Air India Express flight, IX 398, carrying 160 passengers, was forced to make an emergency landing at the Kochi airport on Thursday. The flight, en route to Kozhikode from Saudi Arabia's Jeddah, was diverted after encountering a technical snag involving the failure of the right main landing gear and tyre.
The aircraft landed safely at 9.07 am under full emergency conditions. According to a spokesperson from Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL), no injuries were reported among passengers or crew members, and all emergency services were activated in advance. "Post-landing inspection confirmed that both right-side tyres had burst," he added. As per the latest update, the runway has been cleared for normal operations after post-landing inspection.
