Thiruvananthapuram: In a recent incident, an Air India Express flight bound for Dubai faced an air conditioning system malfunction shortly after takeoff from Thiruvananthapuram International Airport in Kerala.
The aircraft, carrying 174 passengers, encountered the technical issue during the initial phase of the journey, prompting a precautionary return to the departure airport.
The Thiruvananthapuram International Airport authorities confirmed the occurrence, stating that the flight, identified as IX-539, had departed at 1:19 pm local time. However, due to the malfunction in the aircraft’s air conditioning system, the flight crew deemed it necessary to return to the airport for further evaluation and resolution of the issue.

Air India Express, the operating airline, promptly addressed the situation, ensuring the safety and comfort of all passengers.
According to the airline spokesperson, the crew decided to perform a precautionary landing in Thiruvananthapuram following the air conditioning system malfunction. The decision was taken to avoid any potential risks and to assess the extent of the technical problem in the aircraft.
The airline acted swiftly and responsibly, arranging for an alternative aircraft to accommodate the passengers for their journey to Dubai.
The rescheduled departure was planned for 6:00 pm local time, providing the passengers with a comfortable and timely travel experience.
While such unforeseen circumstances can lead to travel disruptions and delays, Air India Express expressed its regret for any inconvenience caused to the passengers.
