MiG 21: The Indian Air Force on Saturday announced to grounding of the entire fleet of fighter aircraft MiG-21 after fighter jet crashed in Hanumangarh, Rajasthan on May 8. The ban will remain in force till the investigation of the accident is accomplished.

According to Air Force officials, the reasons for the Rajasthan accident are being investigated. As a precaution, till then the MiG 21 aircraft will not be permitted to fly. As per information, 2 women died due to the MiG-21 crash in Rajasthan. 

The MiG-21 made in the 60s was the first supersonic fighter aircraft to fly at the fastest speed of its time. It has been used by about 60 countries around the world. At present, there are a total of 31 combat aircraft squadrons in the Airforce fleet. According to the information, at present, there are 3 squadrons of MiG-21 in the Airforce. They are planned to be gradually retired by early 2025.
