Agra Shocker: Woman Conspires With Brother To Kidnap, Kill Grandson for Ransom

The CCTV footage showed that the accused left the place with a sack in a motorcycle. Upon investigation, he confessed to having disposed of child's body in the canal.

Agra: In a shocking case in Uttar Pradesh’s Agra, a grandmother and her brother were arrested for allegedly killing her 5-year-old grandson, the police informed on Wednesday. The accused, identified as Kalpana Sharma hatched a plan with her brother Lalit Sharma to kidnap the child for a ransom of Rs 15 lakh.

On the day the chilling incident took place, Kalpana lured the victim, who was playing outside in her house. She mixed ten sleeping pills in water and made him drink it.

Lalit took him away in a sack after he fell unconscious. However, when the minor didn’t regain consciousness he panicked and threw the child’s body in a nearby canal.

The police received complaints regarding the missing child and began a probe investigation. They found his dead body floating in the canal. DCP Sunam Kumar informed that the postmortem examined the cause of death as drowning.

The CCTV footage showed that the accused left the place with a sack in a motorcycle. Upon investigation, he confessed to having disposed of the child’s body in the canal.

Kalpana is identified as the mastermind behind the whole plan, the police said. They both have been arrested and further investigations into the case are underway.
