Agra-Gwalior Expressway: There is good news for commuters in Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh, as the upcoming Agra-Gwalior Expressway is set to transform the travel experience. The expressway will connect Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh; enhancing connectivity, and inter-state travel. This expressway will reduce congestion and improve connectivity across three states. It will ensure smooth and faster travel.
Project Details
The 88-km long stretch will be developed on Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) mode as a fully access-controlled 6-lane corridor. The project will cost Rs. 4,613 Crore. The expressway will start from Deori village in Agra district to Susera village in Gwalior district of Madhya Pradesh. It will also benefit regions like Morena and Bhind.
The existing 4-lane National Highway will also be benefitted as the traffic capacity will be increased by more than 2 times. It will ease traffic congestion on already busy Gwalior-Morena-Dholpur-Agra route.
Cut Travel Time Between Agra And Gwalior
The Agra-Gwalior Greenfield Highway will reduce distance between Agra and Gwalior. The travel time will reduced to just one hour from 2-3 hours. It will reduce the distance between Agra and Gwalior by 7% and the travel time by 50%
Furthermore, the expressway will also connect major expressways like the Delhi-Mumbai and Bundelkhand Expressways.
Madhya Pradesh CM On Project
Earlier, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav had expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the Union Cabinet’s approval to the project. Yadav said, “As a centrally located state, the 6-lane Agra-Gwalior National High-Speed Corridor project for Madhya Pradesh will strengthen the infrastructure of the state and also provide economic benefits. The project is an important step towards giving new dimensions to the country’s infrastructure under the leadership of PM Modi. The project aims to strengthen the national transport infrastructure and stimulate economic growth.”
The enhanced transportation facility is expected to boost tourism in these areas. It will enhance connectivity to key tourist destinations in UP like Taj Mahal, Agra Fort and Gwalior Fort in Madhya Pradesh. This will also boost economic growth and make travel and trade between different regions of the country easy.
As per reports, the expressway is expected to be completed by 2027.
