Bengaluru: The Karnataka Police issued a notice to a female Sub-Inspector after Pavithra Gowda, partner of incarcerated Kannada superstar Darshan Thoogudeepa, was observed wearing makeup while in police custody.
Pavithra, the main suspect in the Renukaswamy murder case, was taken to her Bengaluru residence by police to record details of the crime scene. During the visit, she was observed applying lipstick and makeup, and smiling as she returned with the police officials.
The images sparked renewed debate about Pavithra Gowda’s apparent lack of remorse regarding the murder of Renukaswamy, a fan of Darshan.

“Pavithra used to stay at her home every night where she had probably kept her makeup bag. The lady PSI used to go there every day in the morning to pick her up and get her to AP Nagar police station. The lady PSI could have observed this and stopped Pavithra from doing that. For this negligence, she has been issued a notice for explanation,” DCP (West), Girish said.
Gowda has been named as the prime accused (Accused No. 1) in the case, allegedly for being the instigator, while leading Kannada film actor Darshan Thoogudeepa is accused number two, alleged to have executed the murder.
According to police sources, Renukaswamy, a fan of the actor Darshan, had allegedly sent obscene messages to Pavithra, which reportedly angered Darshan. This purportedly led to Darshan plotting and carrying out Renukaswamy’s murder. Renukaswamy’s body was discovered near a storm-water drain next to an apartment in Sumanahalli on June 9, following an alleged torture on June 8.
Darshan, Pavithra, and 15 others have been arrested in connection with the case and are currently in judicial custody. According to sources, one of the accused, Raghavendra, who is part of Darshan’s fan club in Chitradurga, allegedly lured Renukaswamy to a shed in R R Nagar, Bengaluru, under the pretext of a meeting with Darshan. It was at this location where Renukaswamy was allegedly tortured and killed.
