Shahzadi was accused of causing the sudden death of a child she was looking after in Abu Dhabi. After an investigation, she was arrested and sentenced to death.
In a tragic turn of events, Shahzadi, a 33-year-old woman from Banda district in Uttar Pradesh, is scheduled to be hanged in an Abu Dhabi court within the next 24 hours. She is currently in Abu Dhabi’s Al Wathba jail after being sentenced to death.
The jail authorities allowed Shahzadi to make one last phone call to her family. During this emotional conversation, Shahzadi comforted her family, knowing it would be their final talk. She also asked for the withdrawal of a case filed against her opponents in Banda.
Shahzadi’s Journey to Abu Dhabi: From False Promises to Human Trafficking Charges
In 2021, Shahzadi, a woman from Goyra Mugli village in Banda, was lured to Abu Dhabi by Uzair, a man from Agra, with promises of a better life. However, reports say Uzair “sold” Shahzadi to a couple from Agra, who took her to Abu Dhabi. Following a court order from Banda, authorities filed a human trafficking case against the couple, who now live in Dubai, and Uzair.
Shahzadi was asked to take care of a couple’s son in Abu Dhabi, but a tragedy struck when the child suddenly died. The couple blamed Shahzadi for the child’s death, and an investigation led to her arrest. She was later sentenced to death by an Abu Dhabi court. After the sentence, Shahzadi’s father, Shabbir Khan, appealed to the local authorities and government for help to save his daughter.
Shahzadi’s life has been full of struggles. As a child, she suffered burn injuries while working in the kitchen. In 2020, she met Uzair from Agra through social media. Hoping for a better life and treatment for her facial injuries, Shahzadi traveled to Agra with Uzair in 2021. However, instead of a better life, Uzair took her to Abu Dhabi and handed her over to his relatives, Faiz and Nadia. It was during this time that the couple’s four-month-old child tragically passed away.
According to Shahzadi and her father, the child’s death was due to medical negligence. However, the couple blamed Shahzadi and filed a case against her and eventually she was sentenced to death in Abu Dhabi court.
On February 16, Shahzadi’s family received a disturbing call from Dubai. Shahzadi told them that she was being kept in isolation and had been told by the jail captain that she would be hanged within 24 hours. When asked about her final wish, Shahzadi asked to speak with her family.
After this last phone call, Shahzadi’s parents have begged the government and the President to help, claiming their daughter is innocent.
