Around Five Lakh senior citizens who of 70 and above have enrolled for the Ayushman cards since the expansion of health assurance scheme AB-PMJAY.
The highest number of applicants are from Madhya Pradesh with 1.66 lakh in number. Following Madhya Pradesh comes Kerala with 1.28 lakh, UP with 69,044 and Gujarat with 25,491 in number under the Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana.
This expansion of this scheme was launched by PM Narendra Modi to include people who are of 70-year old and above. Till now more than five lakh request for the enrollment have come under this Yojana.
Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana is launched in the year 2018. The scheme provide health cover to 55 crore people. Before the expansion of Ayushman Bharat-Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, only poor families and other category of workers, such as ASHA workers were eligible under the scheme, were allowed under the scheme. The scheme offers health cover of Rupees 5 lakh per family.
According to an official, “We have shared IEC (information, education, communication) material with all states. As word spreads, we are confident more and more senior citizens will become involved.”
How To Apply For This Scheme?
The person who is eligible can apply for scheme by visiting the official site www.beneficiary.nha.gov.in or through Ayushman App.
According to official, the process to apply for the scheme is simple. Under this process the person must verify their identity and eligibility via Aadhaar e-KYC. By using Aadhaar the person can confirm their age and address. And this process is the only process to complete the registration process.
