An intense confrontation recently unfolded between a Political activist, Fatima Farooq, and her husband. Fatima was speaking about AAP MLA Mehraj Malik’s detention on Facebook Live when her husband suddenly walked in and started hurling abuses at her. He even physically stopped her from talking during the live-streaming, but she did not back down.
Fatima Farooq, who has been an Ex-Block Development Council member, was speaking about the tense situation in Jammu-Kashmir’s Doda district. She repeatedly insisted she cannot remain silent and have to speak up in the face of what she called blatant injustice.

The video quickly went viral across social media platforms. In the clip, Fatima questioned Malik’s detention under the Public Safety Act. She asked how it happened that a representative of nearly 1 lakh people has been booked on the charge that he’s a threat to public safety.
Just moments later, her husband barges into the frame, shouting, “Tu kya live kar rahi hai? Fatima shifts her attention and asks, “Kyu mene kya galat kiya. Mein nahi live kar sakti kya?” Here is when the argument escalates.
Her husband, in an authoritative voice, says, “Tera dimaag kaam karta hai,” to which she replies, “Han mera dimaag kaam karta hai. Kya hua mene aapke khilaaf kuch bola?” The confrontation peaks when he snaps, “Tera Mehraj Malik kya lagta hai?” (Who is Mehraj Malik to you?
She fires back at him without flinching, “Mehraj Malik is no one to me, but I am standing with justice.” He next lunges for her phone, but she flips the camera toward him and points, “Ye mere husband hai. Sachai ke saath jo khada hona hai, ye nahi hone dete hai.” (This is my husband. He does not let me stand up for the truth.)
In between their heated altercation, her husband issues a chilling threat, “Stop or I will choke your throat.” According to media reports, Fatima Farooq and her husband have been arrested. While Fatima was charged for violating prohibitory orders, her husband is accused of domestic violence and abusing her on camera.
