Ludhiana, Punjab: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Gurpreet Gogi was found dead on Friday night with bullet injuries. According to DCP Jaskaran Singh Teja, the family members claimed that ‘he accidentally shot himself’ and sustained gunshot wounds to his head.
The 58-year-old legislator was declared dead upon arriving at the hospital. The cause of death would be determined after the post-mortem reports are handed over. “Cause of the death will be known once the post-mortem report is received,” the DCP said. The shocking incident occurred around midnight at 11.30 and further investigations are underway.

On the shocking demise of the AAP MLA, Punjab Minister Hardip Singh Mundian said, “We received very unfortunate news of the demise of Gurpreet Gogi. What we know is that it was an accident. It’s a loss for the party and me personally. He was like an elder brother.”
MLA from Punjab’s Ludhiana West Constituency, Gurpreet Gogi joined AAP in the year 2022. He emerged victorious after defeating his rival, two-time former Congress MLA Bharat Bhushan Ashu in the Ludhiana assembly elections.
