Former Delhi deputy chief minister and prominent Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader, Manish Sisodia, made his way to his residence on Mathura Road to visit his unwell wife, Seema, on Saturday. Permission for the visit was granted by a Delhi court, allowing him access between 10 am and 5 pm, under security supervision. Currently in judicial custody at Tihar Jail due to his involvement in an alleged excise policy scam, Sisodia arrived at his residence in a prison van, accompanied by police personnel.
Seeking permission for a five-day visit, Sisodia detailed in his application that his wife had experienced a severe attack of multiple sclerosis, an autoimmune condition affecting the central nervous system. The Delhi Rouse Avenue Court, granting permission for a limited seven-hour meeting, also directed Sisodia to refrain from engaging with the media and participating in any political activities.

While he had been previously permitted to meet his wife in June, circumstances prevented the meeting as she was hospitalized due to a sudden deterioration in her condition.
Before his arrest by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in February, Sisodia held the excise department portfolio alongside his role as deputy CM. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) subsequently arrested him in a separate case related to an alleged liquor policy scam. According to the ED’s chargesheet, the accused Manish Sisodia played a role in generating proceeds of crime amounting to approximately ₹622 crore.
