‘Andhere Se Darta Hoon Main, Maa’: Visually Impaired Students’ Heartfelt Song Leaves President Murmu In Tears | Video

While addressing the students, President Murmu acknowledged the performance of students and said, “It seemed they were singing with their hearts, not voices.”

A performance by students of the National Institute for the Empowerment of Persons with Visual Disabilities (NIEPVD) left President Droupadi Murmu visibly moved on Friday, June 20. The President attended an event at the institute in Dehradun on the occasion of her birthday. At the event, a surprise musical performance by visually impaired children made her emotional.

The students began their performance with ‘Maa’, a popular song from the movie ‘Taare Zameen Par’, which left the president in tears. It was followed by a birthday song, “Baar-Baar din ye aaye, baar-baar dil ye gaaye, aap jiye hazaro saal, ye meri hai aarzoo,” after which she turned emotional. Uttarakhand Governor Lt General Gurmit Singh (Retd) and Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami were also present at the event.

As the President got overwhelmed by the heart-warming performance of students, she was offered a handkerchief by the officer. The moment became the highlight of the event.

‘They Were Singing With Their Hearts’: President Murmu

While addressing the students, President Murmu acknowledged the performance of students and said, “It seemed they were singing with their hearts, not voices.”

Holding back her tears, she added, “The tears did not stop from my eyes. It seemed to me that they were not singing from their necks; they were singing with their hearts, as if God himself resided in their voices.”

Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended birthday greetings to the President, wishing her a long and healthy life. PM Modi wrote on X, “Warmest birthday wishes to Rashtrapati Ji. Her life and leadership continue to inspire crores of people across the country. Her unwavering commitment to public service, social justice and inclusive development are a beacon of hope and strength for everyone. She has always worked to empower the poor and downtrodden. May she be blessed with a long and healthy life in service of the people.”
