The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) claimed that former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was attacked during a rally in Vikaspuri, with accusations pointing towards the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) as the orchestrators behind the incident. AAP leaders alleged that BJP-affiliated individuals attempted to harm Kejriwal while he was engaging with local residents. The party further criticized the Delhi Police for failing to intervene during the alleged assault.

Saurabh Bhardwaj echoed these sentiments, suggesting that the BJP’s actions are a reaction to the affection Kejriwal has received from the public. He indicated that the BJP’s attempts to undermine AAP’s influence reflect their desperation.

Official Condemnation from AAP

During a press conference, Delhi Chief Minister Atishi denounced the attack as indicative of the BJP’s fear of losing to AAP in elections. She described the incident as an example of the low tactics the BJP resorts to when faced with political competition.

Bhardwaj also referred to past attempts to harm Kejriwal, suggesting that such incidents are part of a disturbing pattern of violence against political leaders, particularly those aligned with AAP.

Political Tensions Escalate

The alleged attack on Kejriwal highlights the escalating tensions between AAP and BJP as both parties prepare for future electoral battles. The incident raises significant concerns regarding the safety of political figures in Delhi and the increasingly aggressive tactics employed in the city’s political arena.
