Delhi mayor election: A big win for the Aam Aadmi party as the Supreme Court restricts members of Delhi’s civic body appointed by the Lieutenant Governor to vote to elect Delhi mayor. The court verdict could possibly pave the way and end the tussle between the Aam Aadmi Party and the BJP over choosing a mayor for the national capital.
Mayor election have been postponed thrice
The election for national capital mayor had been postponed thrice in the last two months due to in house tussle between Aam Aadmi party and BJP over voting. The result for the MCD election was declared in December last year in which AAP won 134 seats and 104 seats went to BJP and congress got 9 seats.

Why was the election postponed?
The tussle started when council members, appointed by Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena, had tried to cast their vote in the last attempt to elect a mayor. AAP members opposed the move and protested , due to unmanageable havoc The election was eventually postponed once again.
