Kota, Rajasthan: In yet another suicide case that unfolded early Tuesday, an 18-year-old NEET aspirant died by hanging himself in his PG room. The deceased, identified as Ankush Meena, from Swai Madhopur district did not leave behind any suicide note. Police suspect a ‘love affair’ could be the reason behind the extreme step.
Ankush was spotted hanging from the ceiling fan by his cousin who also resides in Pratap Nagar, Circle Officer, Dadabari Police Station, Menge Lal Yadav confirmed. Upon receiving the information, a police team immediately arrived at the spot. A case has been registered under section 194 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNNS) Act and an investigation is underway.
Meanwhile, the Police have sent the deceased’s body for a postmortem examination. Ankush’s Uncle told media present outside the mortuary that his nephew showed no signs of stress related to studies and scored 480 marks in routine tests held at his institute. He had been preparing for NEET-UG since 1.5 years, reports stated.
He even talked to his father on the phone around 8 am on Tuesday but didn’t reveal anything. This marks the 7th student suicide in 2025 that occurred in the city famous for its coaching institutes. Out of the six coaching students who died by suicide in January, five were pursuing JEE and one was studying NEET.
