In a poignant incident in the Harihar taluk of Davanagere district in Karnataka, a specially-abled woman named Girijamma found herself compelled to crawl for 2 kilometers to a post office. The 77-year-old, who is childless and heavily relies on her family pension for her livelihood, took this drastic measure after claiming that her pension payments, administered through the post office, were abruptly stopped.
Girijamma made the journey to the Kunibelekere village post office, seeking answers from the officials in the hope that they could address and resolve the issue affecting her crucial source of income.

It is unclear whether Girijamma received answers to her queries. She explained her situation, stating, “I was supposed to receive a Rs 10,000 pension every month, but it never came to me for the last two months. Left with no money for a bus or autorickshaw ride, I decided to crawl for two kilometres.”
The challenging crawl left her with blisters on her feet. A video capturing this incident, which occurred a week ago, went viral, leading to widespread public outcry on Wednesday. Girijamma alleged that the funds, which she typically received through the post office every month, were abruptly stopped without any prior intimation since November 2023.
