Jehanabad District Magistrate (DM) Alankrita Pandey confirmed the incident, stating, ‘At least seven people have died, and nine others were injured in the stampede at Baba Siddhnath Temple. We are closely monitoring the situation, and it is now under control.’
Fatal Temple Stampede Sparks Probe
Divakar Kumar Vishwakarma, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Jehanabad, provided further details, saying, ‘The DM and Superintendent of Police (SP) have visited the site and are assessing the situation. Unfortunately, seven people have lost their lives. We are currently inquiring with the families of those who have died or been injured. Once the identification process is complete, the bodies will be sent for post-mortem examination.’
Expressing his sorrow over the incident, Vikas Kumar, the Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) of Jehanabad, remarked, ‘This is a very sad incident. Despite tight arrangements, we are reviewing the situation to understand what went wrong.’
