Massive Twin Earthquakes Of 7.7 Magnitude Rock Myanmar: At Least 3 Dead In Thailand; Bangkok Declares State Of Emergency

Bangladesh, India, Laos, Myanmar (Burma), Thailand, and China were the affected countries. The earthquake occurred around 11:50 am, stated the United States Geological Survey.

Thailand Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra has issued a nationwide alert and declared a state of emergency in Bangkok. He has warned the public to remain cautious for potential aftershocks, as they are common in the immediate aftermath of an earthquake. The Thai government has taken immediate actions to safeguard people. The Ministry of Digital Economy and Society has been instructed to deploy SMS alerts and provide essential safety guidelines. Strong tremors were felt in Bangkok after twin earthquakes of 7.7 and 6.4 magnitude jolted Myanmar on Friday. At least 3 people lost their lives in Bangkok.

The earthquake occurred around 11:50 am, according to the United States Geological Survey. The epicenter was located 12 km from Sagaing, Myanmar.

Reports of damage emerged from Bangkok, Thailand where strong tremors were felt. Videos shared on social media shows an under construction building collapsing like house of cards. People can be seen running in distress.
