Around 350 new vehicles and as many as 100 vehicles that were earmarked for maintenance were gutted.

Shankar Rao, District Fire Officer, said there were about a thousand vehicles in the showroom when the fire broke out. As both petrol and electric vehicles were kept in the same place, charging of the electric vehicles is suspected to be the cause of the fire.

“Within minutes the fire broke out in the showroom and we struggled to control it,” officials informed. Shankar Rao said that a case has been registered against the agency and an investigation is on.
