Fire in TVS showroom: More than 450 two-wheelers were gutted in a fire at a two-wheeler showroom in Andhra Pradesh’s ‘Vijayawada’ on Thursday morning.
The fire department said the incident took place at Casa TVS Motorcycle Dealer, located on NH-16 service road near Maris Stella College in the city.
After seeing smoke on the first floor of the showroom in the morning, the security personnel informed the fire brigade.
Three vehicles of the fire brigade reached the spot and tried to bring the fire under control for three hours.
Around 350 new vehicles and as many as 100 vehicles that were earmarked for maintenance were gutted.
Shankar Rao, District Fire Officer, said there were about a thousand vehicles in the showroom when the fire broke out. As both petrol and electric vehicles were kept in the same place, charging of the electric vehicles is suspected to be the cause of the fire.
“Within minutes the fire broke out in the showroom and we struggled to control it,” officials informed. Shankar Rao said that a case has been registered against the agency and an investigation is on.
