A three-storey building collapsed on Saturday evening in Lucknow’s Transport Nagar, burying approximately a dozen people under the debris and killing four. The injured have been rushed to the hospital for urgent medical treatment and rescue operations are still on.
According to officials, several people were injured in the tragic incident and 15 have been rescued so far. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has taken cognizance of the incident and is closely monitoring the situation.
The officials stated that the collapse occurred around 5 p.m. at a three-storey building which was used as a godown. Some construction work was underway in the building. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) teams have been deployed to free those trapped under the rubble. Senior police and administrative officials are also present at the site, monitoring the rescue operations.
According to ANI reports, Chief Fire Officer (CFO) Mangesh Kumar informed that many are still suspected to be trapped under the debris. He further claimed that the exact number has not been determined yet.
